About this tool

Zakat on most cash-like wealth is 2.5% (1/40) of net zakatable assets once nisab is met. This calculator totals the asset classes you enter, subtracts eligible liabilities, then applies 2.5%. It does not invent gold or silver prices.

How to use

  1. Enter cash, savings, gold, silver, investments and business assets.
  2. Enter debts that are eligible to deduct.
  3. Optionally enter current gold and silver prices per gram to compare with the 87.48g gold or 612.36g silver nisab.
  4. Read net zakatable amount and estimated Zakat.

Formula and methodology

Net zakatable = cash + bank + gold + silver + investments + business assets − eligible liabilities. Estimated Zakat = net × 0.025. Gold nisab value = 87.48 × price per gram. Silver nisab value = 612.36 × price per gram. Those gram figures are the commonly cited nisab weights; a scholar may advise which nisab to use.

Worked example

Assets of 900,000 minus 50,000 liabilities = 850,000 net. Zakat = 850,000 × 2.5% = 21,250.

Frequently asked questions

Do I pay Zakat if I am below nisab?+

Classical rules require wealth at or above nisab for a lunar year. This tool still shows 2.5% of net assets and, if you provide metal prices, whether that net meets gold or silver nisab.

Should jewellery be included?+

Schools of thought differ. Enter the value your advisor considers zakatable.
