About this tool

The resizer draws your image onto a canvas at the width and height you choose, or as a percentage of the original. Aspect ratio can stay locked so photos are not stretched.

How to use

  1. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP file.
  2. Choose pixels or percentage, then set the size.
  3. Resize and download. The original format is kept when the browser can encode it.

Formula and methodology

Target width and height are integers. Percentage mode multiplies original dimensions by scale ÷ 100. Each edge is capped at 8192 pixels to avoid exhausting memory.

Worked example

A 4000×3000 photo scaled to 50% becomes 2000×1500. With aspect lock, changing width to 1200 sets height to 900.

Frequently asked questions

Is the image uploaded?+

No. Resizing runs in your browser with the canvas API.

Will quality drop?+

Enlarging adds no new detail. Shrinking uses the browser’s high-quality smoother. PNG stays lossless; JPEG and WebP are encoded around 92% quality.
